Tokai Nature Trail Hiking
Kyoto Minamiyamashiro
A BASE to Go for a Leisurely Stroll While Soaking in the Beauty of the South Yamashiro Area
This is a hiking trail that covers the distance of one station from JR Ogawara Station to JR Kasagi Station. The one-way 4km course felt like an adventure, as we walked past giant rocks and hiked to the sound of the murmuring river. If you are a train enthusiast, then you will also be in for a treat when you see the occasional trains passing nearby! The air was crisp and clean, too, so it was truly refreshing.

Michi-no-Eki Ocha no Kyoto Minamiyamashiro Village
Kyoto Minamiyamashiro
A Michi-no-Eki BASE in Kyoto's Only Village Where You Can Take a Short Break from Driving to Soothe Your Tired Body
This Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) in "the only village in Kyoto" is visited by many people from morning till night. Here, the main attractions are Uji tea and souvenirs made with Uji tea. The "Mura-cha Pudding" and soft-serve ice cream, which use locally produced matcha, were exquisite. The "Tea Porridge Set Meal" for breakfast was also superb! I was very pleased with such a luxurious experience that let me dine while looking at the tea fields.

Clover Farm
Kyoto Minamiyamashiro
A BASE Where You Will Find "Real Milk"
"Special milk" is a kind of milk that can be enjoyed fresh from the cow without heat sterilization. It's a special flavor that has received the pertinent certification only in four places in Japan. When I tried it, I found it to be rich in flavor like condensed milk, yet it went down smoothly. They say it's because it's a special type of milk that values the natural flavors of milk. The gelato was also rich and delicious! It was also quite soothing to see the cows from a bit of a distance.

Cafe Seven

A BASE Where Car Enthusiasts Congregate and Make You Feel Like You're at a Car Expo
Car enthusiasts from all over the country gather at this café. When I visited, there were many vintage cars I'd never seen before parked outside. Meanwhile, the inside of the café was filled with automotive goods like miniature cars and stickers! As I watched the cars come one after another, I really felt I was at an auto show. It was a wonderful place for car lovers to chat over drinks.

Koiji Bridge
Kyoto Minamiyamashiro
A BASE Where You Can Relax as You Gaze at the Flowing River
Koiji Bridge is a submerged bridge that sinks into the river when the Kizu River rises. It's a bit startling at first since you don't usually see bridges like this, but that initial shock changes to a great refreshing feeling as soon as you get close to the river. On the other side is Koishidani Shrine, which is known for its matchmaking powers, so it might be a good idea to cross the bridge while thinking of your loved one.
