A workshop that handcrafts each tonkori, a Karafuto Ainu ethnic string instrument. While the instrument is known only to a few in Hokkaido, orders come from all over Japan, and production is currently a year’s wait. The sound of the tonkori played by the owner, who is also active as a performer, is beautiful and delicate and has made me aware of the new charm of Ainu culture.

An old-fashioned local hot spring flowing from the source bustles with locals. The strong saline spring, with almost the same salt concentration as seawater, keeps you warm for a long time. The restaurant’s popular tasting set meal allows you to enjoy the tastes of three local Mongolian mutton barbecue shops in the town. The so-called "tarejin" marinated in a secret sauce is of Naganuma style! The taste was so good that I couldn’t stop eating rice with mutton.

A restaurant directly managed by a 5th-generation apple orchard owner. You can overlook the orchard from the warm-toned log house-style interior. The dishes, abundantly using the apples and vegetables they are proud of, are exquisite! The taste is comforting, and you can tell they are prepared carefully. It is a fine place that made me forget time, resulting in me staying for a long time.

The town’s eye-catching "Akaji-don (deficit bowl)" sign. The Akaji-don, with five approx. 20-cm-long shrimp tempura overflowing from the dish lives up to its name with huge portions! The bowl not only looks authentic, but it also has the authentic taste of a catering restaurant. The hospitality of the owner who sends you off after paying made me want to come again.

A home-roasted coffee shop on a small hill. As soon as you open the shop's door, the lovely aroma of coffee envelopes you. If the weather is good, you can see the distant mountains from the large windows inside the shop! All their handmade cakes are excellent, and you can hear the birds chirping from outside. Perfect for when you want to relax.

A Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) bustling with people from the morning. Fresh vegetables unique to Naganuma, a town flourishing in agriculture, along with local snacks and sweets, are lined up. The locally produced free-range eggs are said to be whiter than regular eggs! The sweets made with eggs the farmers are proud of are all rich in flavor. I was pleased to feel Naganuma’s great nature through taste.
