The Miya River, renowned as Japan's clearest stream, is believed to be connected to the Isuzu River that flows through Ise Jingu Shrine. We woke early, walked around the Misedani Dam area and then explored upstream on a canoe that we booked through Verde Odai Tourism. When we drifted gently across the mirror-like surface of the lake, we encountered small waterfalls and caught glimpses of kingfishers here and there. I could empty my mind and immerse myself in the mystery of nature.

As the lights in the surrounding houses began to glow, we arrived at this 300-year-old traditional Japanese house. It felt like slipping back in time as we enjoyed sukiyaki made with special Matsusaka beef, which accounts for only 4% of the beef in the market. The sweet fat of melt-in-your-mouth Matsusaka beef and the handpicked vegetables each have their own unique story. Savoring sukiyaki while listening to local folktales truly makes for a luxurious experience you won't have anywhere else.

The mountains of Okuise are stunning with their varying shades of light and dark green. Cherry blossoms, mountain wisteria, maple trees, and other seasonal colors make the scenery even more breathtaking. Momijinosato Park also serves as a starting point for activities like SUP and canoeing. And as I stood on the shores of Lake Okuise while marveling at the lush green foliage and the sky reflecting on the lake's surface, I felt like I had found inner peace.

Walking along the path to the shrine through a majestic grove of trees said to be several hundred years old led us to Takiharanomiya Shrine, a subordinate shrine of the Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu, which is also known as Motoise. We first purified ourselves in the clear river that is also used for handwashing. Then, we entered the shrine grounds where a divine atmosphere pervades, all while accompanied by the murmurs of the river. As I basked in the beautiful sunlight filtering through the trees, a profound sense of purity and peace enveloped me.

The birds are chirping in the background and the water's surface reflects the trees like a mirror. Known for its spectacular view, this café is where you can enjoy a hearty, authentic burger and soft, chewy fresh doughnuts while admiring the beautiful, clear Miya River below. The dried flowers decorating the ceiling also create a wonderful atmosphere. It is no wonder that people are captivated by this restaurant and its beautiful textures.
